Golf Handicap For Amateurs
What is a golf handicap? Well, the golf handicap can be described as the measure of the ability of an amateur player to participate in golf. The average number of strokes which is used by an amateur player while playing a single game of golf is likely to be related to the score for each game. The golf handicap score must be deducted from the normal score after the game to find the net value. This is one of the best methods to determine the progress of an amateur in a game of golf.
What Is A Golf Handicap?
A golf club handicap can be zero or a
negative number. This is the number that is achieved when a player performs at
a consistent rate. Scratch golfer is one of the players who has a golf handicap
value of less than or equivalent to 0. The concept of a golf club handicap is not
used in a professional playoff. The international games and competitions are
also not considerate of the golf handicap value.
How Does Golf Handicap Vary?
The golf handicap value is different in different countries. The standard scratch score
is considered in the case of golf handicap values to find a specified value
which is acceptable in most countries. No two golf courses are the same. This
is why no standard value is available for the golf handicap. Some courses are
easy to play on whereas others are extremely challenging. Here arises the
difference in scores.
The Method To Calculate Golf Handicap
There is a specific method to calculate the changes in the golf handicap. The net golf
score must be taken and it must be subtracted from the standard scratch score.
This is specified for golf courses.
● If the golf score is more than zero, after
considering the buffer zone, the golf handicap is increased by a value of 0.1.
● If the result is less than 0, the golf
handicap score is reduced by a specific amount which is multiplied by the number of strokes.
● If the result is around 0 and this is after
considering the buffer zone, there is no change in the golf handicap.
